Description: In this photoshop assignment we took pictures in a studio setting with key light and fill lights in the studio. We also were required to take a natural light portrait shot using a white board to help reflect the light. Then in photoshop we put the portrait shots into one frame with a white outline and a black barrier. This assignment was suppose to challenge us in portrait shots and how to get the lighting just right to create a successful portrait shoot. Portrait Shots: Summary: What I learned... I learned that fixing the ISO can help you lighting in your photos and you not having to change the shutter speed because we wanted the shutter speed to be at least 1/60 or above. I also learned and experienced how the key light and the fill lights worked and o much it does to your portrait shot. I overall really enjoyed this shot, what I learned and experienced.
Description: In this assignment I chose to capture the topic of still life. Still life is a work of art depicting mostly an inanimate subject matter, typically a common place objects which are either natural or mad-made. You place objects in a specific order and or place so that it is appealing to the eye and can capture meaning in the photo. Again, we were encouraged to take 50-100 photos and choose 6 pictures out of them. Still life can be challenging but I am interested to see my creative side and how I choose things and put things in the frame. Best Photo: Exposure Triangle: ISO-400 Aperture-3.5312 Shutter Speed-1/1,000 Next Best 5 Photos: Summary: What I learned... I learned that being creative and trying to find objects that are appealing, look good to the eye and capture something interesting can be challenging, more than I thought. I overall think my pictures turned out pretty good and I liked what I used in the pictures, I liked my lighting, framing and the objects I chose to use. This assignment was fun because you got to choose how you wanted to place the objects. I really enjoyed this assignment and what I did with it to create my work.
Description: In this next photoshop assignment, our teacher was asking for one word to be represented by a combination of photos, showing off our editing skill and techniques of photoshop. In total we were required to create 3 different images using 3 different words. In the picture we had to have the pictures representing the word, the word an the definition of the word. Visual Dictionary's: Summary: What I learned... I learned that working with the different photos in each visual dictionary was harder than I thought it would be. Making the images make sense and form with the other pictures to make sense of the word that I was defining also was harder than I thought. I overall really enjoyed this assignment too, I did enjoy the visual puns a little more though.
Description: In this assignment we are required to complete 3 visual puns and put them on a canvas. We are putting images together to create a fun and silly puns. We also are learning new techniques and tools to complete successful puns. Canvas Of Puns: Summary: What I learned... I learned that trying to come up with new and creative ways of thinking of good and fun puns was quite harder than I suspected. Once I got the puns down I wanted to complete, I then went into photoshop and started editing and photoshopping pictures together to create a fun and creative pun. Every new photoshop assignment we learn new techniques and tools on photoshop which is fun but can be frustrating. I overall really enjoyed this assignment and what I did with my creative mind to accomplish the puns. Throughout this whole trimester of being in this class, this is my favorite assignment overall.
Description: For this weekly assignment, I chose to do the topic of motion. As I said in the inspiration post I wanted to do motion because I got inspired by the photos I was searching up online and I did the same topic in film/darkroom photography. It also seemed the most fun and interesting out of the topics I could pick out of. As usual for this assignment we are required to take from 50-100 photos of this specific topic and narrow them down to our best 6 photos. I am ready to take on the challenge of portraying motion. Best Photo: No Editing Done To This Picture(s). Exposure Triangle: ISO-200 Aperture-3.3438 Shutter Speed-1/250 Next Best 5 Photos: Summary: What I learned... I learned that making sure the aperture and shutter speed are to the best of what I'm shooting is occasionally frustrating and aggravating. Making sure you get the best quality photo and the best photo(s) portraying motion was slightly difficult to the object moving and to the lighting that was at the scene. One thing that helped a lot was fixing the ISO, the ISO is a major part in being successful. I enjoyed this assignment a lot and I can't wait to take on another weekly assignment.
Description: In this photoshop assignment, we were challenged to create 2-5 photoshop pictures by researching tutorials on it, learning from it and then doing it. The first one we were required to do was "Dash of Color". After we accomplished that, we were suppose to research and find other cool, interesting, challenging and fun ways to complete photoshop pictures. Below I wanted to show the before and after pictures of all the pictures I photoshopped. Some of these were challenging and some were not that challenging. Overall this assignment was supposed to challenge us, make us learn new ways on how to use photoshop and make us learn about new tools we had to use in the process. Summary: What I learned... I learned that challenging yourself can be frustrating. I am not the best at photoshop so challenging myself was hard. Learning new tools and new ways to photoshop are fun but messing up or not quite understanding the directions can be very frustrating. I like the end product of my photoshopped pictures but the process can be difficult. All photoshop assignments, I have learned that I need to be patient. This assignment was fun cause we also got to chose what to photoshop but it was challenging. I overall enjoyed it but learning to be patient is key.
Description: In this weekly assignment, I chose to take pictures of people. In these 50-100 photos I wanted to capture a meaningful picture with people in their element, things they enjoy doing everyday. Taking pictures of people had always inspired me because I see pictures of celebrities, friends, school events, etc everyday. I also am always inspired by my mother, she is a photographer and she on a daily takes pictures of me and my family. I also really like people pictures because it shows a lot of meaningful, deep things. Seeing so many pictures of people at weddings, parties, family gatherings, etc, getting inspired to take pictures of people, I wanted to try. Best Photo: No Editing Done To This Photo Exposure Triangle: ISO- 80 Aperture- 3.3438 Shutter Speed- 1/10 Next Best 5 Photos: Summary: What I learned... I learned that taking pictures of people is more challenging than I thought it would be. As I explained in my description, I wanted to capture people in their element and what they enjoy doing on a daily. It was hard because getting angles to make the picture more interesting, the lighting of my photos didn't always cooperate, etc. But fixing the aperture, shutter speed and ISO helped my pictures turn out better. I enjoyed this assignment but it was harder than expected. I liked capturing my family in their element and overall this assignment went pretty well but it just took some patience.

Reflection Post: I really enjoyed this first unit. I liked the challenges and requirements he gave us to complete. I didn't really have any negative opinions on this unit. I liked all of the pictures I took. The most challenging photo for me to capture was framing, I didn't really have an idea before hand about what I wanted to do, so it was challenging for me to be creative and have the photo turn out good. The photograph I captured that was the most fun and the best one I took was the texture picture. I really tried to be creative with focusing on the texture, where I found the texture and how I angled the shot to create a good composition in the photo with texture. Overall I really enjoyed the first unit/assignment of Digital Photography and I am looking forward to more fun, cool and new assignments.
