Description: In this photo shop assignment we got to learn how to use more photo shop techniques and tools. We learned how to use the photo stacking tool, the layer mask tool and of course we needed creativity. Our goal for this assignments to capture many shots of us standing or sitting in different locations in the frame and we photo shop them all into one picture, looking like there is multiple of you(We also had to take a picture of the location with no object in it and/or an empty frame). We were assigned to make two multiple me photo shopped pictures. Summary: What I learned... I learned that when trying to overlap people in different layers the brush tool helps a lot with making it look more real. Also making sure your in the right layer when trying to adjust and edit things makes things a lot easier. When Mr. O'Donnell noted that when making the edges and objects look more smooth and real that to remember black is to conceal and white is to reveal. I liked this photo shop assignment probably the best out of all the ones we have done so far. It was fun and it went by a little faster because we had good instructions to help us accomplish the assignment.
Description: For this weekly assignment I chose to do the topic of food. We were given, like all the other weekly assignments to shoot 50-100 pictures of that specific topic. I wanted to capture cool, interesting, shadowy pictures of food. I didn't want to take ordinary pictures of food. I wanted to create shadows, and different depth of fields than I usually do. I am excited for this assignment and how its going to turn out with different lightings, focuses, etc. Best Photo: I DID NO EDITING TO MY PHOTOS Exposure Triangle: ISO- 800 Aperture- 3.5312 Shutter Speed- 1/30 Next Best 5 Photos: Summary: I think this assignment was more challenging then the other assignments because it was hard trying to be creative with food and trying to create not just an ordinary food photo. I wanted to create cool shadowy, interesting, different angled photos. I think this assignment went well, maybe not my best weekly assignment, but I liked that I had to try something new. I liked how I could arrange the food how I wanted it, to create the look I wanted to accomplish.
Description: In this photoshop assignment, we were challenged to create photoshop a theme into a school picture we captured. We had no direction on how to accomplish this photoshopped picture so we had a challenge to figure it out ourselves. We also were told to create a shadow of one figure and/or object in out photo. I liked this assignment because we got to photoshop any theme we wanted to. I chose the theme of Sponge Bob.
Summary: What I learned... I learned we don't need step by step directions to accomplish a great photoshopped picture on our own. It was a challenge, but experimenting with different tools helped accomplish my sponge bob theme in the school. Also making it seem as real as possible was a challenge, putting filters in, creating shadows, etc. We accomplished the assignment thought and I am happy with it. Patience was key as well in this assignment and sometimes it got frustrating but overall I really liked this assignemtnand how the after photoshopped picture turned out.
Description: In this photo assignment, I chose the topic of nature and/or landscape. I got inspired to do nature and landscape because it is the winter and i wanted to shoot a pretty, effortless and beautiful shoot of a snowy wonderland. I wanted to create cool, pretty shadows of the trees and the snow fall, I wanted to create a sunlight and sparkles of the snow, etc. I enjoyed this assignment and creating a winter wonderland in my photo. Best Photo. Exposure Triangle: ISO- 100 Aperture- 4.3438 Shutter Speed- 1/125 Next Best 5 Photos: Summary: What I learned... I always learn new and inspiring things when shooting pictures. I also learn a lot from my mother that is a photographer. Getting the right light in my backyard to shoot some of these snowy wonderland pictures was slightly difficult because you had to work with the sun, not the sun work with you so that was a slight challenge but I learned how to work around it and accomplish snowy pictures. I also learned how to shoot landscape pictures the wasn't just ordinary boring pictures but putting the landscape pictures at different angles, focusing on something different, etc. Learning how to shoot when the sun isn't being cooperative takes patience. Learning new ways to shoot at cool angles and doing something creative gets easier every time. I liked shooting nature and/or landscape.
Description: In this assignment we had to take a total of 5 panoramic photos. Panoramic photography is a new, cool and interesting way to capture a wide perspective around us. We shot photos of the school and we shot some at home, then we used photoshop to stitch together the pictures we took to make our panoramic photos(Photo merge). We also used tripods to keep the camera steady and at the same height to create a better looking panoramic. Down below are the five panoramic photos I took and stitched together. Pano 1: Pano 2: Pano 3: Pano 4: Pano 5: Summary: What I learned.. I learned that the tripod helps you accomplish better photos than not using a tripod. It's easier to keep the height and steady of your camera. It didn't take to long to figure out how to use the tripod but I thought using the tripod was unnecessary and I could do it without it. I could, but it was harder and my pictures turned out better with the tripod. And by using the tripod photo merge stitched together my pictures a lot smoother. I also learned how to use new tools in Adobe Photoshop. It was a good challenge, but once I got the hang of it, merging the last panoramic photos didn't take as long.
Description: In this assignment we got to take 50-100 photos of our topic we picked. I picked the topic of animals. I am not a very creative person so getting inspired by others photos help me with my creative juices and what I want my photos to look like. Below is my best photo I took of the topic, animals. Below there are 5 other pictures that are the best of 50-100 photos I took. In this animals photoshoot I learned more in depth of shutter speed and aperture and what that does to affect the focus of the picture and the lighting. It takes more than one try to get it right. Also taking action shots are hard to accomplish because you need the aperture and shutter speed just right to get a great looking photo. Sometimes your animals aren't the best models, especially when they want to do whatever but you need them to do a specific thing. I also challenged myself to try to get pictures of not just my indoor house animals but not many animals are running about in my backyard especially cause its so cold out. This shoot took some patience. Best Photo: Exposure Triangle: ISO- 1,600 Aperture- 2.9688 Shutter Speed- 1/100 Next Best 5 Photos: Summary: What I learned... was that shutter speed and aperture are the most important settings of your camera. Especially when you have models that aren´t the most cooperative. Taking pictures of my dog and cat was more challenging than I thought it would be. They wouldn´t stay still they were overall afraid of the camera, they aren´t very exciting. Creating new ways and angles to take shots at, made my pictures come out better. Working with shutter speed and aperture also helped me get successful pictures of my pets. I overall think my animal pictures are pretty successful even though it was a slight challenge.

Reflection Post: I really enjoyed this first unit. I liked the challenges and requirements he gave us to complete. I didn't really have any negative opinions on this unit. I liked all of the pictures I took. The most challenging photo for me to capture was framing, I didn't really have an idea before hand about what I wanted to do, so it was challenging for me to be creative and have the photo turn out good. The photograph I captured that was the most fun and the best one I took was the texture picture. I really tried to be creative with focusing on the texture, where I found the texture and how I angled the shot to create a good composition in the photo with texture. Overall I really enjoyed the first unit/assignment of Digital Photography and I am looking forward to more fun, cool and new assignments.
